A Clinical Approach to Medicine (Second Edition) Launched

A medical textbook showcasing medical expertise in the Asia-Pacific region was launched on the 2nd of February this year. The event took place at the Singapore General Hospital.

A Clinical Approach to Medicine was, according to the CEO of SingHealth Professor Tan Ser Kiat, written for the purpose of providing practicing clinicians, general practitioners, physicians in training and medical students in the Asia Pacific region with a basic text. New chapters and recent information have been included in this second edition ¨C for instance, a chapter devoted to coverage of SARS.

Prof. Tan also expressed his hopes for greater collaboration between local physicians in the future, allowing the book to become a truly representative publication of local medical practice of which all could be justly proud.

Helmed by a panel of leading clinicians and researchers, the material in key areas such as medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, neurology and oncology has been reorganized in the new edition. The book is unique in that it reflects the experience and perspectives of leading experts predominantly from the Asia-Pacific region.

Editor-in-chief Professor Ong Yong Yau extended his thanks to the authors, editors, publisher World Scientific and the administrative staff of the Division of Medicine at Singapore General Hospital for their support.
