World Scientific Attends American Physical Society Meeting 2007
|
The American Physical Society March Meeting was held from March 5 to March 9 this year in Denver, Colorado. Some 7300 scientists attended this important conference. The invited speakers included prominent scientists like Yves Acremann (Stanford Linear Accelerator Center), John Belcher (MIT Department of Physics) and many others.
As with past years, World Scientific was at the conference to exhibit our latest titles and products. The Theory of Magnetism Made Simple continues to be this year and last year's favorite, followed by Feynman Thesis and Beautiful Models.
Quite a few of World Scientific authors visited our booth. Among them were Walter Harrison, who wrote Applied Quantum Mechanics and Elementary Electronic Structure, William Coffey, author of Langevin Equations and James Freericks, author of Transport Multilayered Nanostructures. Sidney Drell, author of a new publication, Nuclear Weapons, Science, & the Post-Cold War also came by to introduce himself prior to his talk.

World Scientific attends the 30th International Conference on Coastal Engineering
|
World Scientific attended the 30th International Conference on Coastal Engineering, San Diego from September 3-8, 2006. We displayed 69 titles, two journals (Coastal Engineering Journal and Journal of Computational Acoustics) and two posters at the conference. While there were about 30 exhibitors, we were among the few publishers present. Introduction to Nearshore Hydrodynamics by Prof. Ib Arne Svendsen continues to be a bestseller.
There were a total of 903 attendees from nearly 40 countries, including the US, the UK, Japan, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Germany and Denmark. This conference is commonly known as the most prestigious conference in Coastal Engineering. Several World Scientific authors were at hand to speak with the readers and to participate in book signing sessions. Among those who came by were Professor Willem Bakker, author of Coastal Dynamics, Professor William Kamphius, author of Introduction to Coastal Engineering and Management, and Professor Philip Liu, Series Editor of "Advanced Series on Ocean Engineering," and "Advances in Coastal and Ocean Engineering."
Professor Robert Dean had a successful book signing for Beach Nourishment: Theory and Practice and Water Wave Mechanics for Engineers and Scientists. Professor Scott Douglass who wrote Saving America's Beaches was also pleased with his book signing session, which gave him the opportunities to meet with the readers and exchange ideas about issues raised in his book.
