2005 marks the 10th anniversary of Imperial College Press. Formed as a partnership between World Scientific and Imperial College, the Press benefits from the expertise of one of the world's leading academic institutions and the experience of an established scientific publisher.
To celebrate its 10th birthday, prominent book displays were set up in many parts of the Imperial College campus, including the Central Library, subject Common Rooms and libraries. The book displays featured leading titles in Engineering, Medicine, Environmental Science, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
Since its inception, the Press has undertaken to showcase the work of academics at Imperial College London, alongside authors from the very best academic institutions worldwide. Recent bestsellers include Classical Mechanics by Tom W B Kibble and Frank H Berkshire and Stem Cell Repair and Regeneration, edited by Nagy A Habib, Myrtle Y Gordon, Natasa Levicar, Long Jiao and Gilbert Thomas-Black (Imperial College London). Imperial College Press is also guided by an International Editorial Advisory Board, made up of highly-regarded academics from various fields.

The 2005 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to NIST physicist John L. Hall and Theodor W. Hänsch from the Max-Planck-Institute for Quantum Optics and Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich for their contributions to laser-based precision spectroscopy, including the optical frequency comb technique. This technique makes it possible to study the stability of the constants of nature over time and to develop extremely accurate clocks and improved global positioning system (GPS) technology.
