Tony Chiam joined World Scientific in December 1998 as a Programmer. He obtained a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Ngee Ann Polytechnic (Singapore) in 1994 and an Advanced Diploma in Computer Science from Straffordshire University in 1999. He will be completing a Bachelor of Computer Science from Monash University soon. His job responsibilities include maintenance of the system network and handling of multimedia projects.
Ms Christina Kong joined World Scientific in March 1999 as an Administrative Officer. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Marketing & Linguistics) from Monash University in 1994. She has worked previously as a Recruitment Consultant. Presently, she is in charge of marketing administration and promotion of Life Sciences and Medical titles.
Francis Lau joined the Singapore office in July 1999 as an Analyst/Programmer. He obtained a Diploma in Electronics, Communication & Computer Studies from the Singapore Polytechnic in 1994. He is responsible for the coordination of AS/400 (Sales) and Bookmaster projects.
Ms Audrey Leong joined our Singapore office in March 1999 as a Marketing Executive. She obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing & Applied Economics) from Deakin University in 1995. She has worked previously as a Marketing Executive. Her current job responsibilities include maintenance of our mailing database, acquisition of new mailing lists and promotion of general titles.
Ms Tai Tone Lim joined World Scientific in November 1998 as a Sales Administrative Officer. She graduated from the Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) in 1998. She is currently responsible for the sales of books in the European market .
Alan Pui joined the Singapore office in June 1999 as an Editor. He obtained a Master of Science (Microbiology) from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1996. He has worked previously as a Research Assistant at the NUS. He is in charge of coordinating our Life Sciences and Medical projects.
Ms Karen Quek joined World Scientific in August 1999 as an Editor. She obtained a Bachelor of Science (Zoology) from the National University of Singapore in 1996 and has worked previously as an Information Officer. She is responsible for the coordination of Social and Life Sciences projects.
Suwarno joined World Scientific in August 1999 as an Editor. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (Hons) from the National University of Singapore in 1999. He is currently responsible for the coordination of Chemistry projects.
Anthony Doyle joined our London office in October 1999 as a Commissioning Editor. He obtained a Bachelor of Science (Physics) from Sheffield University in 1993 and has worked as a Technical Editor. His current job duties include commissioning of books in Astronomy, Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics.
Ms Ellen Haigh joined IC Press in July 1999 as a Publishing Assistant. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Publishing & English Studies) from Oxford Brookes University in 1999. She provides administrative and editorial support to both the Editorial and Marketing Departments.
Ms Melissa Morton joined IC Press in August 1999 as a Commissioning Editor. She obtained a Bachelor of Science (Biology) from King’s College, University of London in 1993 and a Master of Science (Medical Entomology) from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in 1994. She has worked previously as a Project Editor. Her current job duties include commissioning of books in Medicine and Life Sciences.
Ms Chan Saw Kheng is this year’s sole recipient of the10-year service award. Ms Chan’s career with the company started in 1989 when she joined the company as a receptionist . After three years of joining the service, she was transferred to the sales department where she stayed for seven years. In 1996, she was transferred to the accounts department and she has remained there since. Currently she holds the position of an accounts officer.
