Publishing Collaboration with
Indian Institute of Science

World Scientific Publishing Company (WSPC), Singapore and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have agreed to co-publish a series of textbooks and monographs by prominent scientists and authors from IISc and other international scientific and educational institutions.

The first in the series is expected to be a book by leading scientist Professor CNR Rao — Trends in Chemistry of Materials. This pioneering collaboration will contribute significantly in disseminating current Indian scientific advancement worldwide. In addition, the collaboration proposes to bring to India the best scientific ideas and thoughts across the world in select priority areas through specially designed India editions.

The series monographs will include the latest advancements in fields like nanotechnology, superconductivity, modern applications of automata theory, game theory, etc. Textbooks and lecture notes for undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be also published in all major engineering disciplines.

IISc is a premier postgraduate institution of research and higher learning located in Bangalore, India. It offers postgraduate and doctoral research programmes in 48 departments, ranging from aerospace engineering to molecular biophysics to management. IISc currently ranks number one in India in research output (citation and impact factor).

Media Partner of Singapore International Water Week and Launch of Proceedings of the 1st Asia-Pacific Water Summit
World Scientific Publishing was one of the official media partners of the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW), a global platform for water solutions. Held from 23 to 27 June 2008 at the Suntec International Convention and Exhibition Centre, the inaugural event saw policymakers, industry leaders, experts and practitioners getting together to address the challenges, showcase technologies, discover opportunities and celebrate achievements in the water world. Some 6000 water professionals and government officials from all over the world attended the event.

During SIWW, World Scientific Publishing also launched the Proceedings of the 1st Asia-Pacific Water Summit. The publication was distributed to a few select partners at the conference. Its contents include speeches by Chair of the UNSGAB, His Royal Highness Prince Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands, President of the Asia-Pacific Water Forum Yoshiro Mori, Prime Minister of Japan Yasuo Fukuda, Singapore's Ambassador-at- Large, Professor Tommy Koh, United Nations Secretary- General Ban Ki-moon, and 10 heads of government from the region.

Included in the book are summaries of sessions covering matters relating to sanitation, climate change, water financing and capacity development, waterrelated disaster management, water for development and ecosystems, developing knowledge and lessons, increasing local capacity, monitoring investments and results, and the CEO Water Mandate. Also included are the "Policy Brief 2007" and the "Message from Beppu", the two seminal outcome documents of the first Asia- Pacific Water Summit (APWS).
