Launch of Nobel Laureate C N Yang's
Twilight Collection
Twilight Collection is Nobel Prize winner Dr Yang Chen-Ning's first self-selection of
literary works which is amassed over the past 3 decades. Edited by Madam Wang Fan,
the book is published by World Scientific's Global Publishing imprint.
Twilight Collection is an anthology of some of Dr Yang best literary works. With a
reminiscing eye, he writes about his personal encounters over the past 30 years of his career
and his personal life. In his works, he ponders about the deeply personal "history of a single
person in the 20th century" and moves to a more holistic view, one relating to the"bloody rebirth
of a national identity in the 20th century". Also in the book, he touches on the development
of physics. Notably, over 50 articles in Twilight Collection touch on the issues of education,
society and culture. There are also more than 10 color photos featured in the book.
As Dr Yang discusses in his writings the cultural and social problems encountered by
someone who is active in thought, editor of the book, Madam Wang Fan, observes in the
preface with candor: "I have commented that some of his thoughts and languages are too
straightforward and said, 'Why must you write? Someone will condemn you afterwards.' He
replies, 'I am not afraid. What I say is true!'"
